Abstract
Factors affecting the mental health care of ethnic minority groups in the United States deserve serious consideration. Hispanics, the second largest of these groups, face problems of access to care, high rates of substance abuse and HIV, and shortages of Hispanic psychiatric professionals. Recommendations for improving psychiatric care for Hispanics include changes in the areas of health insurance, research funding, affirmative action, and psychiatric training. Keywords
