Zur Kenntnis von Berylliumiodat und -periodat-Röntgenographische, IR- und Raman-spektroskopische Untersuchungen / On Beryllium Iodates and Periodates - X-Ray, IR, and Raman Studies

Abstract
Phase relationships and thermal decomposition of beryllium iodates and periodates were studied by X-ray and spectroscopic (IR, Raman) measurements. Be(IO3)2 · 4H2O, Be(IO3)2, and Be(H4IO6)2 · 4H2O have been characterized. Be(H4IO6)2 · 4H2O (hitherto claimed in the literature to be a metaperiodate) dehydrates on heating with decomposition to form Be(IO3)2. Anhydrous beryllium periodate was not obtained. On dehydration of Be(IO3)2 · 4H2O, anhydrous Be(IO3)2 is formed, which decomposes into BeO, I2, and O2 on further heating.
