Abstract
Properties of type I diamond were investigated before and after irradiation with 17.0 and 18.3 MeV protons. The optical absorption edge is essentially unchanged. The infrared absorption spectrum shows a strong additional peak at 6.92 μm. A Raman line shift of 4 cm−1 indicates an increase of 0.0032 Å in the lattice constant. Keywords
