Abstract
Eigenvectors of configuration (2p)5(3p) of NeI are determined and expressed in terms of the j1l2 basic states. A considerable mixing among the j1l2 states is seen and a slight change in the assignment of Racah designations to the energy levels is suggested. Based on these eigenvectors, the relative probabilities for NeI 2s‐2p transitions are evaluated. An improvement over the previous calculation is evident in the present result.
