On the Internal Friction of Cold-Worked and Quenched Martensitic Iron and Steel

Abstract
A theoretical explanation is given for the internal friction peaks which are observed at 200°∼250°C for cold-worked iron and steels and for steels in the martensitic condition. The theory for the peaks is based upon the addition of a term to the free energy in order to account for the strain energy due to the interaction of an atmosphere and the line imperfections. The standard linear solid was obtained from the model in which dislocations are vibrating with an atmosphere of carbide precipitates.This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
