Vascular anatomy of the preoptic region of the brain

Abstract
Most investigators are agreed that there are perforating vessels arising from the proximal segments of the anterior cerebral arteries and from the anterior communicating artery. However, there is a wide variation in description of the sites of irrigation of these perforators. Our own studies have led us to believe that these small perforating vessels from the most distal branch of the internal carotid artery are destined only for the preoptic cellular region, the ventral portion of the most rostral part of the brain, the telencephalon.
