Abstract
Intercaudate nucleus ratio (ICR) is a linear measure of brain atrophy that does not require software application and is independent of image acquisition techniques. The authors examined the relationship between ICR and disability in 190 patients with MS. The results show that ICR correlates with Expanded Disability Status Scale score (r = 0.67; p = 0.0001) and disease duration (r = 0.32; p < 0.01). Intercaudate ratio appears to be a reliable and reproducible linear measure of brain atrophy and correlates with disability and disease duration in MS.Keywords
