Information management in service industries: towards a strategic framework

Abstract
Investments in information and communications technologies are largescale, and often the real potential is not being realized. It is stressed that an information systems strategy should be aligned with the business strategy, and the management of the information resource is discussed by considering the components of a strategic framework. Aspects of implementation in the service sector are illustrated through a brief discussion of different variables which could be measured.
