Abstract
Petioles of Coleus and Ricinus from which the blades had been removed abscissed within a few days but if auxin-containing substances were applied to the cut petioles the development of the abscission layer was delayed for significant lengths of time. Indole-3-acetic acid delayed abscission longer than any of the auxin-containing substances tried. Pollen of Populus grandidentata, exudate of leaves of Val-lota purpurea and human urine were all active in delaying the formation of the abscission layer. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
