Abstract
Many couples experience difficulties with their relationship following childbirth, although only a very small proportion seek help. Midwives who are adequately prepared in their role can give advice, support, information and encouragement on sexual matters to couples, to diminish these difficulties. Part 2 of this article, which will appear next month, will focus on men and sex. Keywords
