Abstract
Described is an accelerator which utilizes the photoelectrons from an ultraviolet irradiation of a gold cathode to provide measurably small fluxes of low energy electrons. Operation of the accelerator is based upon the well established proportionality of photoelectric emissivity with intensity of irradiation such that accurately known small electronic fluxes are established through the use of filters of known transmissivities. With a stable light source and vacuum environment extraordinary flux stability is obtained with this accelerator.
