Relation of the Orogranulocytic Migratory Rate to Periodontal Disease and Blood Leukocyte Count: A Clinical Study

Abstract
Number and types of oral leukocytes counted in concatenated samples of saliva were related to the severity and extent of periodontal disease in 50 individuals between 19 and 65 years of age. The oral polymorphonuclear leukocyte level was independent of leukocyte levels in peripheral blood, and was correlated best with degrees of gingivitis.
