Abstract
Individual values of personnel change as their careers unfold with an organization. A comparison of staff's values at two hospitals indicates that, regardless of how long personnel work at the same site, their priorities are changing. The amount of conflict among those who have been employed equal lengths of time seems to reflect a cyclical phe nomenon in which one tenure cohort is in agreement whereas a different tenure cohort is in conflict. Much as Gail Sheehy's Passages describes the evolution of personal priorities, a similar phenomenon of passages occurs on the job. Implications for organization development are discussed. Keywords
