Abstract
One of the weak points of electromagnetic prospection using classical two coil devices comes from the difficulty of transforming the results into the terms of the apparent properties of the ground and of defining criteria for the identification of the presence of metallic objects. This article deals with the calibration (or the checking of calibration) process for such devices (SH3 and EM15) and with theoretical calculations corresponding to a stratified soil and to dipole embeded in a homogeneous half space which allows us to define the corresponding responses. For EM15 (used 10 cm above the ground) the transition between the apparent magnetic susceptibility and the reading is :'Xo=3A0"9 uSI x reading in I*. A. For the SH3 in phase (used at a height of 15 cm) this transition is : TtflL =4O.10~5 uSI x reading in Volts. For the SH3 in quadrature, one has to establish the transition for each site taking into account the zero level and quadrature susceptibility.L'un des points faibles de la prospection électromagnétique avec les appareils classiques à deux bobines provient de la difficulté qu'il y a à exprimer les résultats en termes de propriétés apparentes du sous-sol ou à définir précisément des critères d'identification de la présence d'objets métalliques. Cet article décrit les procédures utilisées pour étalonner ou contrôler l'étalonnage des appareils (EM15 et SH3) ainsi que les calculs théoriques correspondant au terrain tabulaire et à un objet métallique noyé dans un sol homogène qui permettent de définir les réponses correspondantes. Pour TEM15 (utilisé à une altitude de 10 cm) la correspondance entre la susceptibilité magnétique apparente et la lecture est^^^S-lO"5 uSIxlecture en fCA .Pour le SH3 en phase utilisé à une altitude de 15 cm, cette correspondance est "X*. = 40. ÎO"5" uSIxlecture en volt. Pour le SH3 en quadrature, la correspondance avec la résistivité apparente demande à être établie pour chaque site en tenant compte du réglage du zéro et de la susceptibilité en quadrature.Tabbagh Alain.
