Abstract
A study was made of 612 psychotic outpatients, followed by means of a national case register from their first referral in 1946 to 1955 up to and including 1973. One hundred and sixty-four cases were not found to be registered as inpatients and so must be counted as lost to a registration system based upon hospital admissions. The loss of cases was estimated at around 5% of the total first admissions. Most of the lost cases were borderline psychotics or manic-depressives.Keywords
