Abstract
The preparation of ethyl orthothioacetate (VII) from acetyl chloride and excess of ethanethiol in the presence of zinc chloride has been studied. The substance can easily be converted into 1,1‐bis‐ethylthioethene (VI), which can also be obtained directly from acetyl chloride (or ethyl acetate) and two moles of ethanethiol under the influence of zinc chloride. 1,1‐bis‐Ethylthioethene (VI) is produced also by the action of potassium tert.butoxide on ethylthioacetaldehyde diethylmercaptal (X).Keywords
