Abstract
An examination of the foldback fraction of nuclear DNA from P. polycephalum was carried out using the EM. Results showed that the inverted repeat sequences were responsible for the formation of foldback DNA range from 150-3000 bases in length, with a number-average size of 340 bases. About 1/2 of the inverted sequences formed looped structures with loop sizes averaging 1200 bases in length. The distance between adjacent foldback sequences was estimated to be in the range 100 to 1500 bases. This publication has 23 references indexed in Scilit:
