Abstract
The determination of the urinary excretion of vanilmandelic acid (VMA) in children with retinoblastoma derives from elevated amounts of VMA in children with neurogenic tumors and especially neuroblastoma. The method of VMA analysis and the results was discussed. Since an elevated urinary VMA excretion was found in only 5 of 12 patients, this determination cannot be recommended as a routine diagnostic procedure. Keywords
