Abstract
The preparation of 2-pyridylhydrazones and their thermal indolization to 2- and 3-monosubstituted and 2,3-disubstituted 7-azaindoles, and to 3,3-disubstituted and 2,3,3-trisubstituted 7-azaindolenhies are described. Attempts to cause thermal indolization of two 2-(5-nitropyridyI)hydrazones were unsuccessful.
