Abstract
A cryostat is described which will maintain optical cells at any temperature from −190°C to 0°C while they are being scanned in a recording spectrophotometer. Liquid air is used as the refrigerant and the temperature is adjusted by means of an electrical resistance heater. Fogging of the optical system is avoided by circulation of the dry refrigerant vapors and by window heaters. Keywords
