Abstract
There is a need for the head and neck surgeon to be familiar with the anatomy of the orbit, for the practice of his specialty may require deliberate entry into this region, either for access or to carry out specific procedures. A review of 561 occasions in which entry into the orbit was desirable revealed that 478 (85%) were primarily for exposure of the medial orbital wall. A variety of operative techniques were required together with knowledge of the relevant anatomy and possible hazards. Keywords
