Abstract
A study of shrinkproofing and dye‐assist treatments has been performed using ethanolamine as the reactive agent and isopropanol/water mixture as the treatment medium. The three variables studied were percentage of isopropanol in the treatment bath, ethanolamine concentration and temperature. These were optimised in terms of the shrinkage prevention, dye‐assist effect, weight loss and yellowing results obtained. The best treatment conditions found, conferring both shrink‐resistance and dye‐assist effect, together with a controlled level of damage, were 50% isopropanol/water mixture and 1 mol/l ethanolamine at a temperature of 55d̀.This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
