Abstract
A phenomenological free energy function which we developed earlier is used to calculate the effect of electric boundary conditions upon the relative stability points, and the rhombohedral (R3m)-tetragonal (P4mm) degeneracy required for the morphotropy at Zr:Ti ratio approximately equal to 1:1. The free energy–composition phase diagram under applied dc fields is discussed in terms of the morphotropic phase boundary behavior.Keywords
