Abstract
A method of tuning fiber lasers is described and demonstrated. The state of polarization in the fiber is controlled using the strain-induced birefringence of several fiber coils. The fiber laser was tuned over a 33-nm tuning range by rotating a single fiber-coil halfwave plate.<>Keywords
