Arterial Placentography and Placenta Praevia

Abstract
A series of 150 placental arteriograms is reported. The history of arterial placentography is briefly reviewed and the technique is discussed in detail. The necessity for a lateral or oblique view is emphasized, as is the importance fo localising the cervix by a radio-opaque marker. A single film method is used. The technique has proved safe in practice and the survey confirms that arterial placentography can provide complete accuracy in the localisation of the placenta and exclusion of placenta praevia. In this series of 150 cases there were no failures and no complications.
