Permian conodont biostratigraphy of China

Abstract
In this article, seven conodont assemblage zones are discussed. They represent all four stages of the Permian—Chihsian, Maokouan, Wuchiapingian, and Changhsingian—and lend support to the view that all the Permian stages are rather complete in China. On the basis of conodont evolution, we suggest that the lower boundary of the Permian in China is drawn at the base of the Neogondolella bisselli–Sweetognathus whitei Assemblage Zone and approximately corresponds to the base of the Baomoshan Formation in South China and the base of the Shensi Formation in North China.
