Artane in the Treatment of Parkinson's Disease

Abstract
THIS report is a clinical evaluation of a recently synthesized drug called Artane‡ in 44 cases of Parkinson's disease. Artane is a piperidyl with the formula shown in Figure 1, on which also are written the structural formulas of Benadryl and Parpanit for comparison. These three chemicals are not similar in structure to either atropine or scopolamine.The details of the chemical behavior and the pharmacologic and physiologic effects of the drug in animals are available in the reports of the manufacturer and will be published shortly.
