Abstract
4-Chlorotestosterone, an anabolic steroid comparable to testosterone but with less androgenic potential, was studied in guinea pigs sensitized to horse serum and in rabbits and mice infected with either Nocardia asteroides, or Staphylococcus aureus. 4-Chlorotestosterone enhanced the intensity of anaphylactic shock in guinea pigs, prolonged survival time of infected mice, hastened healing of cutaneous nocardosis in rabbits, and nullified the proinfective action of cortisone. Keywords
