Abstract
The authors deal with some metabolic processes which either occur uniquely in the skin or which have some special significance in relation to the skin. Mammalian, and more particularly human, skin are considered almost exclusively. The specific subjects included are: keratin and the keratinization process, surface lipids and their excretion, the mucopolysaccharides of cutaneous ground substance, cutaneous carbohydrate metabolism, and cutaneous effects of proteolytic enzymes. Keywords
