Abstract
The breadth of action of 5-HT3 receptor antagonists to modify animal behaviour may at first appear surprising but is revealing of a widespread role for 5-HT in moderating behaviour. It will prove of considerable interest to establish the role of the 5-HT3 receptor antagonists in the treatment of human illness. Such data would not merely be relevant to the design of new drug therapies but would also allow an important insight into the value of the animal models of human psychiatric disease.
