Transmission of raspberry ringspot virus by Longidorus caespiticola, L. leptocephalus and Xiphinema diversicaudatum and of arabis mosaic virus by L. Caespiticola and X. diversicaudatum*

Abstract
SUMMARY: Using a micro‐container inoculation technique, an English strain of raspberry ringspot virus (RRV) was transmitted by Longidorus caespiticola Hooper, L. leptocephalus Hooper and Xiphinema diversicaudatum (Micol.) to petunia test plants. RRV persisted in starved X. diversicaudatum for at least 10 days. From a mixed infection of RRV and a typical strain of arabis mosaic virus (AMV), batches of fifty X. diversicaudatum transmitted both viruses, but AMV the more readily, whereas batches of twenty‐five L. caespiticola transmitted both viruses with equal facility.This publication has 14 references indexed in Scilit:
