Abstract
Bingo is played by five million people in Britain and is an important part of working-class life. This paper describes bingo as a product of the ‘culture industry’ as defined by Horkheimer and Adorno, and focuses not on the players, but on the politico-ideological framework within which bingo is provided. Keywords
