Abstract
A search for the 3061 (2+, T = 1) → 1041 (0+, T = 1) keV γ-ray branch in 18F has been performed with the use of the capture reactions 14N(α,γ)18F at Ea = 1526 keV and 17O(p,γ)18F at EP = 741 keV. The observed branching ratio is 0.11 ± 0.03%. The mean life of the 3061 keV state was found to be < 1.5 fs. This E2 branch in 18F is compared with the analogue transitions in 18O and 18Ne as well as with shell model calculations.
