Abstract
Morphological differences between mandibeln of larvae of Tortricidae living on apple trees. The shape of the teeth on the posterior side of the mandibles (retinaculum) of last‐instar caterpillars of Tortricidae Tortricinae from apple represents an important diagnostic character for the genera in this group. This character probably also holds for the third and fourth instar caterpillars. The data on tooth shape is new evidence for the naturalness of the generic classification of Obraztsov. After much use, the mandibles sometimes become abraded, so that this character should only be used as an auxiliary. Keywords
