Abstract
Based on a special approach for ultrasonic breast imaging (CARI: clinical amplitude/velocity reconstructive imaging) a modified time-of-flight tomographic imaging algorithm is introduced. Problems of limited angle and signal-to-noise ratio are discussed. Despite fundamental limits phantom experiments show promising results. Compared to CARI the authors' algorithm leads to an improved lateral resolution and also an axial resolution was obtained, which is missing in CARI images. Keywords
