Variation of La Crosse Virus Filial Infection Rates in Geographic Strains of Aedes Triseriatus (Diptera: Culicidae)12

Abstract
Three geographic strains of Aedes triseriatus mosquitoes were examined for their respective abilities to transovarially transmit La Crosse virus. Two strains from the northeastern United States, Massachusetts and Connecticut had filial infection rates of 26% (141/552) and 13% (38/283), respectively. In contrast, a mid western strain from Wisconsin had a filial infection rate of 50% (419/843).
