Abstract
Ten compounds were selected from 80 which had shown some activity against the planorbid snail, Australorbis glabratus, intermediate host for Schistosoma mansoni. In the field tests the compounds were applied as an emulsion or an acetone soln. in concn. of 10 ppm. The predominant snail in the ponds, marshes and ditches was Tropicorbis obstructus donbilli. Pentabromophenol and pentachorophenol showed promising activity. Both these compounds are irritating to human mucous surfaces. Keywords
