Abstract
It is suggested that the evaluation of hearing for hearing aid selection should include measures of acoustic reflex thresholds. These thresholds should be examined in relation to the puretone and speech audiograms to confirm the need for amplification limiting and the selection of the best ear for a hearing aid if only one aid is to be provided. Middle-ear impedance measurements should be used routinely for hearing evaluation and only a few minutes are needed to determine the acoustic reflex thresholds. Keywords
