Effect of Castration and Testosterone Administration on Seminal Vesicles and Prostates of Rats

Abstract
The QO2 of rat seminal vesicles and prostates decreased early following castration, while weights of the glands decreased over a 28 day period. Testosterone propionate in castrated rats caused an increase in the QO2 of these tissues while their weights increased over the 20-day period of injections. Hydrocortisone did not inhibit the action of testosterone on the seminal vesicles and prostates.
