Abstract
Therapy of cancer as practiced today is the only reasonable approach to the problem. In addition to surgery and irradiation, chemotherapy is a possible third therapeutic tool. Adjuvant measures such as preoperative or postoperative chemotherapy or irradiation or both and, possibly, active immunization against cancer require intensive research efforts. Studies are under way to prove that a host defense mechanism against neoplastic disease does exist. Keywords
