Abstract
An equation is derived for the intensity of light reflected from a parallel plate without assuming Stokes’ law to hold or a fixed phase change of π on external reflection. It is shown that this equation reduces to equations generally used in describing this intensity only under conditions which are probably never applicable. Keywords
