Abstract
Presentation of CaseA sixty-six-year-old woman entered the hospital because of difficulty in breathing.She had been well until seven days previously, when the left leg became painful, but without swelling. The pain persisted, and on the day before admission dyspnea developed. On the following morning she went to a physician with the complaint of a cough, dyspnea and a mild sore throat. She appeared dyspneic and slightly cyanotic and had a dry, hacking cough accompanied by frequent gagging. She was afebrile. The physician diagnosed an asthmatic attack and administered epinephrine, 0.3 ml. of a 1:1000 solution, aminophylline, 250 mg., . . .
