Abstract
Studies on the mode of action of amphotericin B, nystatin, and related antifungal antibiotics eventually led to investigations on the mechanism by which the complement system damages cell membranes. These experiments made extensive use of liposomal model membranes and subsequently suggested other applications that liposomes may have in the fields of immunology and pharmacology. Keywords
