A detailed description is given on the use of cholangiography during laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The authors strongly recommend fluorocholangiography as a routine procedure because it provides excellent information about the anatomy of the extrahepatic biliary system and in this way it helps to prevent injuries during surgery. Secondly, intraoperative cholangiography is essential for the detection of unsuspected stones. Moreover, a description is given on the removal of common bile duct stones during the laparoscopic procedure.
