Abstract

Disulfiram is used in the detoxification of human alcoholics. The claim of Casier and Merlevede that disulfiram and ethanol react to produce a quaternary ammonium compound that may be involved in the pharmacogenesis of the disulfiram-ethanol reaction is in error.
