Abstract
Correlates of depression are examined among fifty-two single parent, employed women. Economic and domestic deficits attributed to single parents are less important predictors of depression than are sex-role orientations. Nontraditional sex-role orientations, spending more time at work, receiving help from others, and higher self-esteem are factors linked to less depression. For the most part, factors conducive to psychological well-being seem amenable to change, and suggestions for intervention are provided. Keywords
