Abstract
From West Africa comes a most instructive discussion by COLLOMB of the characteristics and background of the acute psychiatric episodes or 'bouffées dé lirantes' which are the predominant form of psychosis in some parts; and a brief discussion of the psychiatric situation in the neighboring Ivory Coast by AMIEL. From the eastern parts comes a report by KAGWA on one of three epidemics of mass hysteria that have occurred recently and a general discussion of psychosomatic disorders by BAASHER.Keywords
