Abstract
A monospecific antibody preparation directed against the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) of the human digestive system was con jugated to ferritin. Many different specimens of viable colonic cancer tissue were incubated with the ferritin-anti-CEA conjugate and studied, by electron microscopy, for localization of the ferritin label. These studies revealed that CEA is, to a large extent, in the glycocalyx of the colonic cancer cell surface. Keywords
