Abstract
Efficiency of the second-harmonic generation by a -polarized electromagnetic wave that is obliquely incident upon an inhomogeneous plasma is analytically investigated considering the plasma-density gradients characteristic for the laser-produced plasmas. The results obtained are in excellent agreement with earlier numerical calculations.
