Abstract
Trematode-infected amnicolid snails are normally collected by means of dip nets in shallow water. These snails tend, however, to inhabit the cooler deeper waters of lakes during the warm summer months. Though inaccessible with a dip net in such areas they are easily collected with the Reighard tow net, a cone-shaped tow net with runners, dragged through submerged vegetation. This technique may disclose cercarial infections which might otherwise be overlooked.
